Woman Bust

Manifattura francese, Busto muliebre con orologio, Caserta Palazzo Reale, sala di Marte
The marble bust sits on a chest veneered in mahogany and maple, decorated with various designs in gilded bronze: leopards, amphora, trophies, laurels, musical instruments, vine leaves and tendrils. Embedded in the bust, like a medallion, is a clock by the Courvoisier Frères. The furnishings reached Caserta in 1852, still complete with the bronze tiara crowning the head of Ariadne, now lost.
