The six sculptural high-reliefs, used as decorative lintels, represent the following episodes in the life of Alexander the Great: Philip of Macedonia entrusts the young Alexander to Aristotle, Alexander at Delphi forces the Pythian to predict his future, Alexander delivers his testament before dying; Alexander tames the steed, Alexander covers the body of Darius with his cloak, Iassile in Egypt offers Alexander all his possessions.
