The Murat Apartment
Caserta Palazzo Reale, Appartamento Murattiano, Biblioteca
The works commissioned by Murat also affected the series of spaces after the Throne Room. The painted decorations on the ceilings, inspired by Greek literary and mythological subjects, were largely by the Neapolitan artist Giuseppe Cammarano with contributions from the German Franz Hill. The Murat Apartment also contains the furniture and paintings by J-B. Wicar, G. D. Descamps and P. E. Martin from the Palace of Portici, where the French tended to stay more often.
