XVIII and XIX Century Views

Among the views in this section, one canvas that stands out is that by Salvatore Fergola (1799-1874) depicting the inauguration of the Naples-Castellammare railway. The painting was finished in the year the eighth Congress of Scientists took place, which was held in Naples in 1845 and was an opportunity for great cultural prestige for the Bourbon government which, with the inauguration of the first section of railway in Italy, already laid in 1839, provided proof of the substantial progress made in the area of technology.
