Truth has a light which illuminates even the invisible and which rests firmly on the Earth, as if to indicate that it always triumphs. Merit is embodied by a young man wearing a laurel crown and clutching a book and a sword, intent on scaling the rocks since, to make oneself worthy, it is necessary to overcome hardships. Between Merit and Truth, sits the Maestà Regia, or Majesty: Charles of Bourbon who, with his sceptre, with one open eye dominates and controls the entire kingdom.
