The fresco represents the god Apollo sitting on a cloud between Mercury, Minerva and the Muses. At his feet are the allegorical personifications of the arts and a winged glory, chasing away time with scythes. Typically of the late baroque era, the artist, Girolamo Starace Franchis, preferred a more classical painting style, in keeping with the tastes of architect Luigi Vanvitelli and the choices made by the painter, Francesco Solimena.
