Piecing together a biography of Michele Scaroina is a challenge even now. He was most probably from Campobasso, judging from the signature on the Coronation of the Virgin with Saints in the Church of San Nicola in Celenza Valfortore. Also his is the Virgin and Child with SS Nicholas, Peter and Anthony (1759) in the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Mirabello Sannitico. Of his artistic output after 1759, nothing more is known until 1772. He then produced various canvasses (probably a series) of folklore subjects in an “orientalist” style, now in Caserta Palace.
